It's been TOO QUIET around here, but I do have a sudden development i'd love to get some feedback on. My fantail is suddenly looking seriously ill
today. This afternoon (3pm) I gave him a small piece of thawed frozen shrimp, one of his usual foods, and he began some funny twitchy,disoriented-seeming fast
swimming movements --flashing?. The piece of shrimp reappeared on the bottom of the tank, and he then alternated between the flashing and floating, on his
side, in the middle of the tank (not at the top). Then he would sink down and sit on the bottom, a little tilted. Alarmed, I did a fast 50% water change and
checked all the parameters--nothing showed up to cause concern. He seemed to recover within about a half hour, and behaved pretty normally for the rest of the
day, if a little more quiet than usual.
Just now (10pm) I gave him a very small thawed pea (he usually gets 2 large ones this time of day), and the same behavior is happening again. I am watching him and I haven't seen him give up the pea yet. He certainly looks bad. It's been about 30 minutes.
Anyone have any ideas?
