Goldfish staying at bottom of tank |
Lead | ||
|
Hello, I have had my goldfish for about 3 years. He is living in a 10 gallon aquarium. Lately he has been staying at the bottom of the tank, nor moving
around a lot. We thought that he might have swim bladder, so we tried fasting him for a few days. It didn't seem to help. I cleaned his tank today and
no improvement. It seems to me that his breathing has slowed, and the top half of him seems darker almost greyish-black. Is there anything we can do for him?

He is probably around 6 inches long. We don't have the space for a larger aquarium. Is there someplace we could take him or something else we could do? I
am going to purchase a test kit to test water. I don't normally clean everything in the tank, just water with siphon. I have cleaned everything a couple of
times though. He has been healthy through 3 tank changes (he started in a bowl, then 5 gallon then, the 10 gallon), except for fungal infection that cleared up
with antifungal medicine.

I can recommend daily water changes and feeding him only a few flakes of food once a day.
You have taken good care of him! He will continue to grow. All he needs now is a larger aquarium. |
