Hello essexukgoldfish, Welcome to
*Copy and Paste the following questions into your post. What size aquarium is it? *30 liters converts to 8 US gallons. 8 US Gallons converts to 7 UK Gallons Goldfish should have at least 13 - 17 UK Gallons per fish How long has the tank been established? How many fish are in the tank? 2 What size are they? Water change amount? Frequency? Are you siphoning the waste out as you are removing the water? What foods are you feeding your goldfish? Flakes How much? How often? *Try feeding presoaked sinking fish food pellets. Add a variety of foods to your goldfish's diet. Romane lettuce, boiled green peas (remove shells) Filtration? Charcoal / Carbon? Aeration? Water Heater? Water Temperature? Gravel? What are the test result readings for... pH? Ammonia? (ppm) Nitrite? (ppm) Nitrate? (ppm) GH? (ppm) or (dH) KH? (ppm) or (dH) Are you using Test Strips or Test Kits? Do you have city or well water? If you have city water, are you adding a tap water conditioner? Water Additives... pH adjusters? Amquel? Salt? Zeolite? Ammo Carb? Nitra Zorb? What symptoms / behaviors are they showing? Medications used? Do you quarantine new fish? Have you treated for Flukes? Any other helpful information will be appreciated. |

Bubbles encased in a long tube of poo (
As a quick fix, you can try feeding peas--frozen are fine-- thaw them and squeeze them out of the skins. If your fish are less than two inches long, just feed them each one pea, twice a day. Often letting them go hungry for a few days is a good idea-- it lets the system clear out. Dont' worry-- they don't have mammal metabolisms-- they can go a few days without food EASILY. Don't give them flakes anymore-- flakes and hard pellets often just exacerbate the gas problem. Some pellet foods, soaked, may be tolerated better. You might have to experiment. It's generally better to feed them wet, squishy things rather than dry things. Greens are good. If that doesn't help, your floating fish may have a swim bladder issue (also very common in goldfish). At any rate, floating issues are often very hard to fix. Marlene has a lot of experience with them and if you can get back to her with the information she requests above, she may have more help for you. Best of luck. --jane |

Get yourself some specialized foods. There's an antibacterial and antiparisitic food. Great stuff since those guys refuse to tell you what's wrong with them.

Oberton, WHO is refusing to tell essexukgoldfish what's wrong? His Goldfish?
Are you assuming his goldfish have a bacterial infection or internal parasites? What if it is simply the diet being fed to the goldfish. There are 2 goldfish in a 7 UK gal. tank. What are the water test readings for pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates? We don't know! How often is essexukgoldfish performing water changes? Is the tank cycled? High nitrates will damage the swim bladder and cause goldfish to float. But we'll never know until essexukgoldfish replies to this post, and supplies us with more information. Jane and I both replied with suggestions to help his goldfish. More information is necessary to diagnose this problem!

Uh--YEH, what she said.
And like we need more antibiotics released into the environment for no concrete reason. |

Pfft. Can't use it if you don't have it so when do you get your specialty foods.
And I was talking about my fish not telling me what's wrong with them.. |
